About Me

"Take down a musical instrument - let the beauty you love be what you do" - Rumi
I'm British, totally swell, and as I'm told very cuddly. I say things like "lift," "bloody 'ell" "fookin' naff" and "aluminium." I'm also 100% colourblind and like my meat firmly attached to the animal and frolicking on the meadow (That means I'm a vegetarian, not that I eat raw squirrels). Women yell at me whenever I shave my goatee off. Seriously.
While you're at it, check out my music page here.
I can be hired and perform minor musical miracles upon request and in exchange for money, beer and the occasional meal. From full-on music production to remixing, loop creating, sound design and audio post-production, I do it all. I also play keys, guitar (well, sorta...) and drums. I currently have a new project in the works that is going to be phenomenal. More soon.
I've played with a lot of people in the US and Europe, styles ranging from Goth-Industrial through Metal to House, RnB, Trip Hop and Ambient. Genre doesn't matter, all that matters is that the songs rule.
Music is here to remind us that there are more important things in the universe than ourselves
Remember: The biggest danger to democracy is ignorance; especially when coupled with machismo and hubris. Vote in 2008.

My Interests

I'm completely into mobile computer-based DJing and software synthesizers. I'm running Logic Pro 7, Ableton Live 5, Reaktor 5, FM8, Elektrik Piano, Akoustik Piano, Guitar Rig 2, Battery 3 and very soon MAX/MSP - all on a Mac, because I don't have time to waste on a broken OS. I have ProTools, too, but only for compatibility reasons.

I'd like to meet:

The people who will finally pave the way for the impeachment of the George W. Bush regime. Look up the definition of fascism in the dictionary and look at the USA - you'll be shocked at what you'll find.

Music:

Music is life. Under Byen, Mum, Radiohead, Godspeed! You Black Emperor, Boards Of Canada, Telefon Tel Aviv, Thievery Corporation, Tarmak, Aphex Twin, Bjork, Portishead, Tricky, Air, Massive Attack, LAMB (and lots of 'em), Hipoptimist, Amon Tobin, Squarepusher, DJ Vadim, Wagon Christ, Greenskeepers, Armand Van Helden, My Bloody Valentine, Peter Gabriel, Genesis (1966-1974), King Crimson, Wire, David Sylvian, Rain Tree Crow, Goldfrapp, The Cardiacs, and soo many others... Check out MySpace bands like Cruelblackdove and Cinephile - they're awesome! Search your local band scene on MySpace and find out what treasures you'll find in your neighborhood!

Movies:

Don't watch movies. Movies are boring. I don't have the patience to sit through 2 hours of feeble attempts at covering up weak storytelling and bad acting with CGI explosions.

Television:

The big brainwash. Opiate for the masses. Panem et Circenses. Not worth wasting braincells on, to be honest. We all know that, but does anyone ever turn off?

Books:

Ahhhh, books. Complete European history geek. Greco-Roman warfare, old European sagas (Beowulf, Siegfried, Arthur). Goethe, Schiller, Rilke, Theodor Storm, Böll, Siegfried Lenz, Hesse, Shakespeare, Douglas Adams, Chaucer, Tolkien (No, I haven't watched the movies, and no, I'm not going to), William Gibson. I'm a geek, so what, wanna fight about it?

Heroes:

The unknown Chinese man who, during the Tiananmen Square massacre, peacefully held up a line of tanks just by standing in the way.
Everyone who stands up against the Project For A New American Century and the Neo-Con fascist movement.

French Film Blurred

Yes, that's the name of my new band project - or what, I hope, will turn into a band. I'm inviting anyone who's into downtempo music, can point to Portishead on a map and can eat a big bowl of Jell-O ...

Whooopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

No specific reason why I'm posting this, other that I'm in an exceptionally good mood today, and I'm listening to some bouncy French House music.

I'm now writing for Modern Drummer!

Yes, ladies and gentlethings, I've returned to journalism, and a lot more triumphantly than my last attempt (magazine folded before the first issue was published). Modern Drummer, the drummer's bible,...
