About Me

Time for an update.I was born and raised in New York City. My dad was Blue Collar, cheap, and stupid. My mom was born in Berlin, Germany, leaving (quickly!) when she was 10. She retained some sort of European style which gave me an odd sort of international lifestyle as a child. It has long since disappeared. She also had low self-esteem which I, unfortunately, inherited. She died in 1981. Dad, who lived until 1995, without Mom's influence, was revealed to be tedious and boring, in addition to the "qualities" listed.I attended a Yeshiva (a school that provides secular and religious education), which, when I graduated, confirmed my agnosticism.Attending high school and college in the late 60s and early 70s, I neglected to learn the most important life lesson, which is to look for what you enjoy and strive for it. I coasted through these key years with a laissez-faire attitude. Combined with low self-esteem and overprotective parenting, I hadn't learned or experienced any aspect of life first-handed. The next thirty years have been a slow, downward spiral.I've made few friends over the years, retaining less. I've been in love four times, each experience ultimately heartbreaking, although due to my unusual philosophy, I maintain a friendship with three of the four. If it weren't for these people, I'd probably be as bland and stupid as my dad. I owe them big time.Nearly twenty-six years of driving a city bus has made me older, but not much wiser. Somehow, I've managed to make a handful of friends out of the thousands of people I've encountered.I've become fat, nearly bald, and fairly depressed. Sometimes lonely, but overall hermitlike. I've also acquired mild forms of diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol.Of course, with this lifestyle, I've entertained thoughts of ending it, but the same dismal attitude keeps me from following through. My only two admirable qualities are a sense of humor and a curious mind. I'm also an insatiable reader and researcher and have a love of travel, although I don't do that much of either. My life is, in one word, mediocre, and my attitude tends to make this permanent.(Of course, if you listen to the music on this page or read my blogs, you might think I'm being overdramatic, but, trust me, I am what I am. Sometimes, out of the blue, a little vitality pops up, but it's short lived.)
