About Me

Kimberly.

I eat cookies in bed and hog all the covers. To sum me up my life is made up of: Aspirations of Peruvian Potato farming. Archeology. Wildfires. South America. Laughing. Animals. Craig. Working out. Mountain hikes. Drinks with friends. Nature. Indigenous Peoples of the New World. Prehistoric fiction novels.
This is all true.
I took this picture at the edge of the world.

"I'm not a Communist, I don't have to be. I just listen to the old country. A man's worth is told by his memory of the ancients, and not just by his modern mechanisms." -Arguedas
You don't understand the sierra. It's another world. Among the towering mountains, beside the rivers which tumble through the abysses, a man grows up with the most profound sensibilities. That's the source of his power. In the mountains, Peru is very ancient. They haven't rooted out its marrow. . . ." -Arguedas
"One may overpower and conquer in battle a thousand times, a thousand men, but yet he remains the greatest conqueror who conquers and overpowers himself."-Siddhartha Gautama (The Buddha)
Earth Poems
"I want two geraniums to sprout from my eyes
Two white roses from my forehead,
And from my mouth, a strong perennial cedar
That'll shade me when I burn inside and out,
That'll give me a breeze when the rain drenches my bones.
Pour water on me every morning, fresh from the nearby river,
So that when I die, I'll be fertilizer for my own vegetables."
-Javier Heraud, Peru: The New Poetry
"Of course it must be understood that, where everything else is equal, a man does not perform the same actions if he gives his consent to obedience as if he does not;just as a plant, where everything else is equal, does not grow in the same way in the light as in the dark. The plant does not have any control or choice in the matter of its own growth. As for us, we are like plants that have the one choice of being in or out of the light."-Simone Weil
