About Me

www.chucknashmusic.com ......Chuck Nash plays in a band of regional pros with a pretty cool instrumentation: a crazy drum/percussion setup (you have to see it and hear it), a pedal steel player who takes a non-traditional approach to the instrument, a bassist loaded with groove and chops, and acoustic guitar with some unconventional effects thrown in...add in some solid 3-part vocal harmonies, as well, and you kind of get the picture. This instrumentation was born after the release of the last Chuck Nash CD "Dressed In Yellow Light". The upcoming new CN release will have this instrumentation on it.....it's gonna be cool!Chuck has been writing songs since he was a 5th-grader, and has now written several hundred songs. Chuck and the band will play anywhere from original music clubs, to festivals, to private parties, and yes even in clubs that typically have cover bands. That does not mean that you will hear this band playing a bunch of lowest-common-denominator covers: Nope... The band performs tons of original music with some (well-chosen) covers thrown in. The point is to is to play....wherever....whenever...and grow a larger fan base....and not work a day-job...so the days can be spent writing songs and recording them....and the nights can be spent playing them....that's what life is all about!Chuck's former project was called "Kingpins" and was active from 1997-2000. Kingpins released 2 CD's, traveled around the southeast, got a pretty good regional following, got some indie and commercial airplay, and won a nationwide songwriting competition.....It was cool. Then labels called; came to see the band; didn't like the looks of the band; wanted something that sounds a lot more like other bands at the time...no thanks! The band was not interested in being in anyone's club.A few years later, Chuck got an indie deal as a solo artist with Down In Front Records and released "Dressed In Yellow Light". The songs range from straight ahead rockers to socially-conscious dirges to tongue-in-cheek pop songs with some subtle and some not-so-subtle innuendos. Due to some hard luck, there wasn't a lot of promotion money to push the CD and the feedback from the indie radio stations that were approached was that they wanted to hear something that sounds more raw and less-produced like the other popular indie bands at the time...no thanks! Chuck has always been interested in making music, not in being in someone's fraternity. Sidenote: Chuck and executive-producer Jack (E. Poo) Hayford are very proud of "Dressed In Yellow Light." No apologies here, thank you! These days, Chuck and the band are continuing to write and record songs, and will have 8-12 of the new ones available for digital distribution in 2008 (and a physical CD for a few people at live shows who might still remember what a CD is by then). They are also working on a live project to be released sometime in 2007. Chuck and Co. still play whenever and wherever they can...which is pretty much all the time...they stay kinda tired...it's fun....maybe you should come and see!
