What is a Power Woman?
To me, that is someone who: balances work, play and everything in between with grace, is independent in nature, is humble and loves to learn yet proud of who she is, is passionate about succeeding in each area of her life and helping others do the same, doesn't deny her natural tendencies but embraces and uses them to her advantage and to help others.
PWR is an informal organization dedicated to helping women achieve their goals and excel in all areas of their life. We meet monthly, starting in January 2006. The meetings are loosely organized to include a presentation by a Guest Speaker, roundtable discussions and wine/socializing. PWR will also produce writings on topics of interest to the group.
There are no dues, and members are not restricted by age, location or any other type of discrimination other than they must be female!
A bit of background about me:
My name is Ann Simons, I'm in my mid-twenties and work full-time in Marketing for a software company called Connecture, Inc. I'm originally from Georgia and have lived in the Midtown area since the beginning of 2005. I began PWR after being inspired by my mother and because I noticed a common thread of competency, ambition and talent among my friends that I felt could be enhanced by providing a common venue to do what we do best - TALK! By sharing our ideas, thoughts and writings, encouraging each other, continuing to challenge ourselves, and learn from those around us, the possibilities are endless for how we can impact the world to achieve our goals and in turn, help others.
