About Me

Hrrmmmm... I'm a goofball. I love silly movies and smart books. I like to sing and I'm pretty good at it. No Caruso or Callas, but I can hold my own in a karaoke contest. I have a cat, but I'm not a cat lady. Don't get me cat-themed items for my house, or I will have to use them to expand your orifices. Let's see...what else? I'm one of the twelve or so remaining fans of Huey Lewis & The News and I have a strange affinity for pecans. Not that either one of those has anything to do with the other. I spend my time either at work, at the gym or at the theatre (on the stage, of course) and the free time is spent with a book or watching bad tv (as if there's anything on other than 'bad' tv). I'm no Ken Jennings, but I did manage to be a one-episode contestant on Jeopardy (that means I lost. Yes, I lost on Jeopardy, baby!). I'm cheap, but not a cheap-skate. Heck, I own an iPod, so I can't be that cheap. Either that, or I'm a slave to technology. (yes, I have an iMac too, why do you ask?)

My Interests

Pilates, reading anything and everything, food, bad movies. Just your basic dork-girl stuff.

I'd like to meet:

the Queen. Okay, maybe not the Queen - but how about Queen. Roger Taylor? He'd be pretty cool.

Music:

I'm all about the Huey Lewis & the News. Anyone who knows me knows that. It's been a long-time fascination, too. We're talking since 1980 - the first album. Love, love, love them. You know who else is great? Tower of Power, baby. They've been rocking the East Bay funk since before I was born. And they still give on hell of a show.I'm also quite fond of Men At Work. Yes, I know, they had like three hits. But the singles ain't where it's at. You gotta dig deeper into the albums. I wish they would get back together, but it ain't happening - so I'll settle for whatever Colin Hay is up to these days.

Movies:

Fight Club, The Princess Bride, Blazing Saddles, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Drop Dead Fred, Bring It On, MIB, MIIB, Ghostbusters, Monster's Inc, Ice Age, Oscar (yes, the one with Sly Stallone), Young Frankenstein.

Television:

The Sopranos, Project Runway, Family Guy, Futurama, Law & Order (the original)

Books:

I love Shakespeare. And Dickens. But as for modern stuff, I'll stick to Michael Palmer, Tess Gerritson, Jill Conner Browne, Sophie Kinsella. I also tend to read a lot of non-fiction. I have a pretty extensive library ranging from pulp romance to physics to Victorian poetry and porn. Go figure.

Heroes:

Anyone who can actually make a living doing exactly what they want. Judi is a hero to me because she manages to keep on keepin' on after all that's happened to her.

Jean Reno? Hoo-boy!

According to MyHeritage.com, the celebrity I most resemble is Jean Reno. Which, according to most psychologist, would explain why I find him so damned attractive. Heh. Also on the list (in...

An auspicious start to the day...

Ah.... you know what's really cool? Spending time talking on the phone with people you don't get to see very often. Getting caught up on what's going on in their lives. It's a nice way to end the day....

Wintertime Blahs....

After the sunny weather this week, I thought that the wintertime blahs would be a thing of the past. Not so. I'm more depressed today than I have been in months. I'm going to curl up by the f...

Am I only dreaming....

Again with the weird dreams. Two of them last night. First one. I'm at some kind of outdoor festival. Maybe just a picnic, I don't know. Anyway, I'm walking around by myself and I see Gary Burghof...

Weird dreams.

Bizarre dream: Starts out like a bus trip - a group of about 5 or six people (myself included) on a 'party bus' going to a comedy club. The club is next door to an auto shop. The bus lets us off, I...

Shave and a haircut....

I didn't shave my head - although the thought did cross my mind. I did, however, get my first haircut in over two years. This makes the second haircut I've had since 2000. I should be good for anot...

Idiots on Forum Boards

You know what I really hate? Morons who have to start a new topic instead of adding to a current topic. For example: On a board I frequent there is one poster who has taken it on himself to scour the ...
