Movies, junk TV, good TV, music, sci-fi, great food, coca-cola and shopping! I collect Star Wars toys and memorabilia, especially the female characters. I also collect other cool looking female action figures that catch my fancy.
Elvis Costello and Carrie Fisher because I could get beyond my fandom with either of them and I think we'd have great conversation.
What don't I like would be easier. I can appreciate most everything but noisy, messy jazz ticks me off. Classics for me are David Bowie, Elvis Costello, The Clash, INXS, U2. Current new artists for me are O.A.R., Kelly Clarkson (yes, really, the chic can sing and write now that she's free of Idol-dum!), and the variety of my favorite radio station, KNRK - the most awesome alternative station (listen online at 947.fm). Recent stuff, from the last decade or so, include Sister Hazel who I adore, Sarah McLaughlin, Alanis Morrisette, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Audio Slave, oh and so many others! Long ago I was really into medieval music and folk/60's music as well as musicals, Stephen Sondheim being my favorite - I can't stand Phantom of the Opera! Give me Sweeney Todd!
Star Wars! I just really dig sci-fi movies. I think it started with watching Lost in Space and Star Trek as a kid. I vaguely remember seeing The Blob when I was very young, then next remember the Planet of the Apes. Most recently Serenity and the latest Harry Potter were very enjoyable. I also had a good time at Wallace and Grommet. I need to get out to a movie without my 5-year-old someday again...I also like comedy, drama, and historical pieces as well as Asian cinema both beautiful and fun.
I love my DVR! HBO & Showtime series are mostly awesome (Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome, Weeds) though I am rather ticked that Carnivale was cancelled. I've loved ER and Law & Order since they began. And I like a lot of the junk on VH1.
Oh, how I miss reading books! Work, kid, spouse, house, bills, business...I mostly read magazines now and I'm currently reading kitchen remodeling books and I'm getting ready to crack a book called 'Trigger Point Therapy for Myofascial Pain, hoping to find relief from some of my CFIDS symptoms. But I used to read lots of sci-fi and fantasy - Anne McCaffrey, Tolkien, Kathryn Kurtz, Ursula LeGuin, and I also added Ann Rice to the mix later on. Historical biographies and books on myth, magic, and many different occult/pagan/spiritual topics.
When I was a kid it was Joan of Arc because she was a chick in armor on a horse! I love the statue of her at 39th and Glisan but was really stoked when we just happened into Orlean France while driving to Samur and there was my favorite statue of her ever, huge and in person! Also, my historical ancestor Eleanor of Aquitane who was a very strong woman for the 10th century.I still look for a modern female hero but they're hard to find.Of course, Princess Leia is my fictional hero.
