Writing, sports, music, film, art, a good drink with friends, anime, being a dad, debating, dinosaurs, travel, the right girl, the wrong girl, being challenged, finding $5 in my pocket, entertaining, reading, macs, dogs, a warm breeze, and a cold morning.
The Kennedy's (too late), Walter Payton and Elliot Ness (ditto), someone who can help me knock off a bank so I can pay off my student loans, the poor guy with the middle name 'Puebbert', the person who borrowed my copy of 'Fletch lives', Terry Tate, that dude from the old Encyclopedia Britannica commercials from the 80's so I can punch him in the mouth, anyone who doesn't take life to seriously, and all the guys whoever try dating my daughter (want to get a head start of putting fear into their hearts.)
I stopped turning on my radio a while back and ever since then I smile more.
I do enjoy music greatly but not anything considered Top 40.
Mostly into Indie rock, punk, classical, and ambient electronica; but will listen to pretty much anything as long as its good. I've had an unhealthy obsession with Jenny Lewis since I was 13 and don't see that stopping anytime soon. All types of music has something good to offer if you look deep enough. I have over 1000 albums and hopefully many more in the near future.
Film has always had a great grip on my life. From 'Star Wars' and 'Jaws' to 'Garden State' and 'American Beauty' there is too much goodness not to enjoy.I really like a well written script coupled with either good acting or great editing. A good score isn't too bad either. Give me AMC or IFC any day of the week. I'll watch 'Lord of the Rings' followed by 'Laurence of Arabia' and finish out the day with a Kurosawa flick. ...And if theirs time toss in 'Summer Rental' and 'The Big Libowski'.
TV and I had a fight around the late 90's and we haven't been on the best of terms since then.I am a fan of 'Dexter', 'Six Feet Under', 'Arrested Development', and 'Sports Night' was the greatest TV show ever. Kinda digging some others now on DVD, but for the most part I'll have the TV on for movies or sports.
I'm more of a writer than a reader, but any writer who doesn't read isn't a real writer.
'Catcher in the Rye' is one of the most amazing books to reread every 5 years till you die. Anything by Hunter S. Thompson, Jack Kerouac, Neil Gaimen, and that Shakespeare guy is a must. I can also recommend 'Preacher' by Garth Ennis, the 'Tao Te Ching' by Lao Tsu, 'Sacred Hoops' by Phil Jackson, 'Never Die Easy' by Walter Payton, 'Strangers in Paradise' by Terry Moore, and the 'Watchmen' by Alan Moore.
JFK, RFK, Walter Payton, and Elliot Ness. Look'em up, you'll understand what makes them great.
