ABOUT ME:
i taught myself guitar, drums, bass and piano by the age of 16.
i have never sent a demo to any record label whatsoever, yet through word of mouth i have still been lucky enough to make a career for myself, and get my name out with major artists and companies.
Paul Oakenfold heard one of my songs and featured it on a downtempo album that put me along side an album full of major label artists, such as paul van dyk, dido, mark farina, theivery corporation, goldfrapp, massive attack, bloc party, ladytron, etc.
that album (perfecto chills vol 3) was the first album that got my music on a worldwide release, and it could have been the first album of that magnitude that had only one unsigned artist (me ;)
i have also been lucky enough to work with people like Shock G/Humpty hump (Digital Underground), or to play on stage with members of Sly and the Family Stone (Larry Graham's band), while the band i was in was being considered to go on tour with Prince (no lie) for the 1999 tour with Larry Graham and Prince. The member of that band who invited me to join them had produced a track for Micheal Jackson.
Adidas.com had a web-site based on the Kevin Garnett shoe, which used 6 songs to showcase his personality. there were 3 songs do demonstrate his hyper side, and 3 songs to demonstrate his chill side. out of hundreds of songs they chose 3 of my songs to fill the 6 slots. i had a song on each side, and the third was song i produced for the hip hop artists currently known as the Lazy MC's.
in 1996, i was invited to play drums for Vast (formerly on elektra), but after a few months i decided to go to recording arts school because of a scholarship i received instead. even when i was going to travel down to L.A. with them to celebrate the band getting signed...my brakes went out. it just wasn't meant to be for me to be a part of that band...even as a witness.
meanwhile, on my own i have since performed in front of crowds that may have been as large as 200,000! i still can't believe the size of that crowd!
i have probably written at least 200 songs and produced around 50 or more.
i have played in almost every venue in San Francisco on various instruments for many different types of gigs.
although i have written an album, i was never happy enough with anything to put it out....until recently. my first album is definitely something i'm proud of...but i didn't feel it justified my vision in music, nor did it seem like something i wanted to give to the world so i didn't release it.
overall, i've worked closely with the metal scene, the hip hop scene, the gothic scene, the funk scene, the rock&roll and the electronic scene. i have also dabbled in jazz, blues, reggae, and world music.
due to my exposure to such talented people in all these different genres i have naturally developed a unique blend of all these genres, which has been hard for the public (and the industry) to understand...until now.
in february of 2008, i plan to release the second album as my first official release. it will be a storyline based album that takes you through a journey from the beginning to the end. i have worked hard to make something i'm proud of that i think will touch people somehow.
i am certain that making music is the reason why i'm here so i hope you all join me in this adventurous experience, and tune in to the sound that god is adamately giving to me. there is quite a great story i will one day tell you all that will explain how everything was obviously a plan of the divine to get me to make this music. until then, just know that i have cast aside my family, friends and romantic life for many years in order to pursue the opportunity to make music, and it's not just for me...it's for you too.
i am excited to be part of such a revolutionary time in the music industry which allows for a solo artist like me to reach out to the world without the need for a major record deal.
