Five AM Records: Label Manager

About Me

I was born in London to a Pontian Greek mother and Northern English father. My parents brought me up on a strange mix of 70s prog rock and classic Greek folk music.Wasnt long before I was listening to artists on my own such as NWA and KLF and I realised the type of attitude i respected in music.I initially became part of the UK rave scene of the 90s being a spotty teenage raver at many events such as Helter Skelter, Dreamscape, United Dance and Hardcore Heaven. Living off a diet of original breakbeat Hardcore. Barely a weekend passed where I wasnt jogging on the spot in my Formation Records bomber jacket in some leisure centre. No whistles. In early 2000 after university, I joined Big Fish Music in West London as label assistant to seven different legendary dance labels including Bonzai UK, Acetate, Missile, Product Deluxe and a homegrown trance label called Five AM.I began to work with a mix of artists ranging from PMT on Acetate to The Hacker on Missile through to Hipp-e & Halo on Product Deluxe and Sunscreem on Five AM. Not to mention working very closely with some Bonzai artists from Belgium known as Mike Dierickxs (MIKE / Push) and Laurent Veronnez (Airwave).Becoming an integral part of the A&R, I began to focus on the trance labels Bonzai UK and Five AM. Starting to work on projects like Top 40 hit 'Sunscreem vs. Push' and my first advised signing to Five AM which was the legendary Mirage Of Hope by Hemstock & Jennings, then a Gatecrasher anthem. Following this I went on to commission the massive SHOKK remix of Altitude – Altitude and Minimalistix remix of Traveller & In Motion. At the same time at Big Fish Music we were licensing on the successful Push persona on Bonzai UK to gain UK Top 40 placements with Strange World and The Legacy. In 2002 I became Label Manager for Bonzai UK & Five AM. Signed GTR - Mistral as my first track on Five AM which rocketed to the top of global DJ charts and was supported by the worlds number 1 DJ for over a year. After signing GTR – Mistral to Five AM, I met up with Gareth Emery, the producer behind the GTR name and with a shared passion for music and goals in the industry we decided to form our own team. With the closure of Big Fish Music in 2003, we bought Five AM Records developing it to Galex Music in 2006. Galex Music currently handles 8 record labels, publishing and artist management.
