About Me
Sole Profits love for music started at a very young age. His mother was a classically trained pianist. His brother, who was 11 years older than him, played the guitar, drums, and the trumpet. Soles father was a part-time DJ whose knowledge of music was very instrumental in forming his new found obsession. Sole quotes, Ill never forget the piano my Grandmother bought me when I was a child. I remember it cost $2000 which was most of her savings. This surrounding caused Sole to develop hunger for a passion that he still craves to this very day . . . music.
When Sole was young, his musical influences were uncommon for a child his age. His preferred artists were Al Green, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Stan Getz, Marvin Gaye, Dionne Warwick, Prince, Phyllis Hyman, The Gap Band, Color Me Badd, En Vogue, The Commodores, Rufus and Chaka Khan, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker, Nancy Wilson, James Brown, Jimmy Smith, Earth Wind and Fire, The Isley Brothers, The OJays, Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, Bill Withers, and the Brothers Johnson to name a few. Sole was 11 when he received a small break and a cameo in Quincy Jones/Tevin Campbells Tomorrow (Better U Better Me).
As Soles fascination for hip-hop music began he began collecting mix tapes and CDs of artists like The Ghetto Boys, Guru, N.W.A., Gravediggaz, A Tribe Called Quest, Digable Planets, Digital Underground, E-40, Outkast, and many others.
Sole Profit began his search for success, released an independent album (Soul Searching) through an East Coast based label (Dabyss Entertainment). The album moved more than 4000 units and proved to be a strong contender for a freshman album. In January of 2005 Sole entered a national contest (Xzibits Hip Hop Supa Star) sponsored by Cingular, Sony Ericsson, Sony Urban, and Columbia Records through a local radio station. Sole won the regional contest and was selected as one of the top ten nationwide finalists. During the contest he shared the stage with rap stars such as Xzibit, Rass Kass, Krondon, Mitchy Slick, Phil Da Agony, Defari, and producer Jelly Roll. Sole Profit won the contest and earned a demo recording deal with Sony Urban and a car pimped out by Xzibit and Digiwax. He has recorded and performed with artists including former (J records) heavyweight Jimmy Cozier, Celly Cell, Suga Free, E40, the click, and producer G-1. In 2006, Sole Profit went his seperate way to form a group (THE K.E.Y.) with emcee The Relic. He is also CEO of wigglefunk records ( a soul collective on the rise). In the eyes of many Sole is a superstar on the rise with a relentless work ethic and an addictive personality that will one day leave him at the peak of success.
