OUT WITH MUMMY

About Me

Indie quartet Out With Mummy formed in Winter 2004, rehearsing and writing songs in their local schools music room, whilst having to avoid the grumpy music teacher who didn't approve of this so-called "rock" music. After months of writing and dodging their music teacher, the "mod-ish, strokes-toned neo punks"(Time Out) were unvealed, at a local battle of the bands. Unfortunately, they narrowly missed out to a hardcore screamo band with a freakishly large singer. This did not set them back, and since then Out With Mummy have built up a fearsome live reputation, with ram-packed dates at The Garage, Islington Bar Academy and The Barfly.

Sounds Like:

"A brilliant name for a quartet of 16-year-olds. They sure know how to make ace, strokes-y stomp-pop." NME 25 November 06

"I like this! Combine their ages together and you get Mick Jagger!" - Jonathan Ross, Radio 2 - 18 November 06

"Yeah!!! - I really like this!" Zane Lowe, Radio 1 - 30 October 06

"Already name checked as the english strokes, they carry their young years boldly and have a definite ear for a tune" - Rough Trade shops review, November 06

"A Winner - Not shabby at all!" Phil Jupitas BBC 6 Music Breakfast Show 4 Oct 06

"They're kinda modish with a heavy dose of The Strokes chucked in for good measure. The result is a cracking debut single, driven by a huge stomping drum beat. Great stuff!" - Piccadilly Records, November 06."Soon to be single "Who Stole Peter's Soul" seemed about as catchy as it's possible for anything outside the Ebola virus to be." - Indie Dad Blog, September 06

"Slashmusic Band Of The Week" - Channel 4, June 06

"Mod-ish/Strokes-toned London neo-punks" - Time Out, July 06

"We're pretty sure Peely would've appreciated the anti-emo effervescence of Out With Mummy" Channel 4, October 05

"The left of centre lyrical style of Talking Heads with the tunes of the Jam" - Reading University Radio, June 06

Out With Mummy: 'The British Strokes' - Only even better! Watch out, these boys will get big, and very soon hopefully. Producing husky indie music for the here and now, Out With Mummy have gained increasing popularity through E4's 'Unsigned' Website. Think Strokes meets Razorlight - a brilliant mix of hypnotic vocals and well-engineered music. 'On Fire' definitely the track to listen out for! - Music For The Aural Sophisticate Blog, September 06
