Once in San Diego, DOWNSPELL recorded a 5-song demo and began playing live shows. DOWNSPELL quickly made a name for themselves and began opening for such national acts as Deeds of Flesh, Skinless, Exodus, Dying Fetus, Cattle Decapitation, Prong, Asesino, Cage, Prototype, Hemlock, The Dream Is Dead, King Diamond, Entombed, Pissing Razors and a shitload of your other favorite bands. In early '03, DOWNSPELL recorded their first full-length demo entitled "NO REDEMPTION", which their So-Cal fans eagerly devoured. The huge diversity in the individual members musical tastes is what created such a unique sound to metal. From Nile to EyeHateGod, Pig Destroyer to Neurosis, Slipknot to Sabbath. This is the formula that makes the DOWNSPELL machine run.
DOWNSPELL released a full length album, entitled "AFTERBIRTH" in 2006. Recorded at renowned San Diego studio "Golden Tracks". DOWNSPELL toured the last two summers, across the country and back, playing numerous shows and festivals in support of this critically aclaimed production. RANDY BLYTHE from LAMB OF GOD did guest vocals on the track "Submission" which was previously released ..BIRTH" and has been featured nationally on "Total Combat" commercials (Southern California's premier sanctioned cage fights). The new version will be released on an EP that is set to be recorded and released by Summer 2008.
DOWNSPELL is also featured along side Slayer, Lamb of God, Nile, Isis, Pig Destroyer and others in XYZ CLOTHING Co.'s extreme skate video entitled, "DECADE OF DESTRUCTION", which is available online at myspace.com/xyzentertainment. DOWNSPELL created two videos for Afterbirth that our on our page and have gotten rave reviews worldwide and massive airplay. DOWNSPELL's own Tyson Montrucchio is the creator/director/editor so you know the videos are sick and twisted.
DOWNSPELL are also featured in 3 upcomming movies. "SHINANIGANS" created by Ryan Simonetti. Skating, music and antics that'll make The Jackass crew quiver. Oh wait, he IS part of the Jackass crew. It's gonna be sick let me warn you! Plus Ryan and Steve-O are wrapping up "PAPPARAZZI STUNTMAN". Steve-O, Ryan and the crews antics over the last couple of years. To gnarly for the networks they decided to put it out themselves. And also Rick Thornes new moto x movie yet to be named.
