TopShelf - Fine Funk and Soul

About Me

TopShelf is exactly what its name implies: a great tasting product made up of quality ingredients, all with the intent of getting you to your "happy place." So what are these ingredients that give you this killer buzz?
Well, let’s start with the people. TopShelf is made up of seven musicians who have been performing professionally for years, and bring an element of maturity to the stage only found only in music’s most seasoned veterans.
The next active ingredients in this TopShelf cocktail are its influences. TopShelf’s members have studied and performed across not only the country but also the world. They were raised on the sounds of Motown and funk, studied jazz and classical music, rocked out in garage bands, and traveled the world in search of exotic sounds. Each member of TopShelf brings their own unique experience to the TopShelf sound, creating a style deeply rooted in funk and soul, but seasoned with jazz, rock, and Latin music.
The final ingredient is the one that really gives TopShelf its kick: unabashed energy and stage presence. All seven members of the band possess a genuine love for all kinds of music – that’s why they have chosen to make music for a living. TopShelf honed its craft for a year as the Monday night house band at the Back Alley in Fullerton, CA, and used this as a launch pad to larger stages such as the Key Club in Hollywood and the Blue Café in Long Beach.
After over a hundred live performances, TopShelf is a finely tuned machine, and has learned how to electrify any room with its eclectic mix of modern and classic hits by artists such as James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Joss Stone, Marvin Gaye, and Tower of Power.

Sounds Like: James Brown's soul meets Red Hot Chili Peppers grooves - and then the tightness of Earth Wind and Fire and Tower of Power are thrown on top, with a little bit of Miles Davis' coolness...how's that sound?
