Vikings, bike-riding, licorice, live music, movies, looking at art, making art, authenticity, my dog, swimming at the Welles Park pool, dancing, people-watching, the Hideout, flowers, gifts, truth-telling, pilates, pirates, my friends and family, good design, crafts, running, getting by on nearly nothing, teaching kids, taking walks, baking, porch-sitting, hula hooping, finding out how people work, Aldi, sleeping, pot luck dinners, learning/reading/watching everything, making order from chaos, community, going out to breakfast, foreign travel (bike trips!), road trips, jumping rope, genuine people with nice faces, funny phrases people say, mint oreo shakes from Suzie's, airports, other peoples' apartments and houses, popcorn, pets and their names, fresh air.I'm also into this quote, and think it's ever so true: "It's OK. You're OK. Sorrow is nothing but worn-out joy."
People with taste who can tell it straight, laugh a lot, surprise me, and take care of business.
...and just one really great guy.
**WARNING! I'll only add people and bands I actually know/love. PLEASE.**
Can't live without it! I love almost all of it - especially indie rock/pop, singer-songwriter, eclectic/hard-to-describe music, "ethnic"/world music, and non-Nashville country. Crafty supergood instrument chops, live performance showmanship, innovation, mad songwriting skills — that's all good to me. And it's got to be from the heart.
So many to mention, so little time. Documentaries, foreign, thrillers, good stuff, funny stuff, blockbusters...I am a movie freak. Try me.
Here are my favorite directors: Fatih Akin, Pedro Almodovar, Wes Anderson, Jane Campion John Cassavetes, Claire Denis, Stephen Frears, Peter Greenaway, Michael Haneke, Nicole Holofcener, Neil Jordan, Wong Kar-Wei, Abbas Kiarostami, Barbara Kopple, Spike Lee, Mike Leigh, Ken Loach, Terrence Malick, Milcho Manchevski, Errol Morris, Frederick Wiseman.
Mine is reserved almost exclusively for Netflix. I don't watch a lot of TV (but am not against it, by any means!).
I heart the Sulzer Regional Library. I adore Quimby's. And I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for excellent children's story books for ages 2-6...Suggestions, please!!
Great Aunt Eboo. Bana.
People who create music, culture and art!
...and people who think of others more than once in a while.
