Piano Rock!

About Me

Hi all! I play keyboards professionally, and right now am freelancing in the St. Louis market with hopes to branch out to the Memphis or New Orleans markets as well.Currently you will find me performing select gigs with Hudson and the Hoo Doo Cats . I have my own website as well. I'm mostly into music these days (occupational hazzard) and don't have a lot of free time but I enjoy meeting new people so if ever at one of my performances be sure to come up and say hello. Most of my friends know that I'm a fairly shy guy but I warm up quickly to conversation. I take pride in my writing (music and written word) abilities. Something else that anyone who knows me is that I don't/can't drink alcohol due to a 'self induced liver problem' which I acquired in August of 2003. I've found that one can still 'party hard' without 'falling down' and enjoy the nocturnal life that music affords me. During the years that I drank I had a great deal of trouble not being a jerk, so sobriety has afforded me a chance to start again fresh. This is one reason why one of my biggest irks about people is if they can't give a straight answer. I much prefer direct honest people (being blunt is even better than 'little white lies'). It's a little hypocritical of me I suppose seeing as how I was one of those folks for much of my life. Nowdays though, I pull no punches, and expect the same of my real friends. This is not to say I can't be diplomatic, but I won't tell someone something just because it's what they want to hear. As for things that I like in people (other than honesty), I enjoy people who know how to have a good time (no matter what that may be for them). There's nothing more attractive than a person enjoying themselves at something. My newest challenge: seeking a Bachelor's of Science in Meteorology.

My Interests

MUSIC -- all kinds -- actually there are only two kinds -- good or bad. I'm open minded to all genres or styles. I like the OUTDOORS, especially in the fall. There's nothing like a cool crisp fresh breath of air to get the body moving after a lazy summer. Though summer is a wonderful time to be with friends doing all kinds of things. TRAVEL - I want to see as much of this earth we live on as I can before I become part of it again. Below are some tunes that I'm currently listening to with interest.

I made this music player at MyFlashFetish .com.

I'd like to meet:

Mostly through this site I would just like to meet people of like minds to call friends. I think I've had my share of dating for now.

Music:

My favorite genre would be jazz .. mostly post-bop, but I also love swing, doo-woop,50's, THE BEATLES, and any kind of music that doesn't totally abandon having a message. My favorite composers are John and Paul, Ben Folds, Elton John, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Dan Wall, Schubert, Chopin, Copeland...actually too many to name. My favorite concert moment of all time -- seeing the birth of the Akoustik Trio (Corea - Pattitucci - Weckl) @ the JVC Newport Jazz Festival in 1988. My favorite rock'n'roll moment -- Wings @ Busch Stadium St. Louis when Paul and his piano flew by almost within reach. (Watching Mike Anthony down a 5th of Jack while playing a bass solo runs a close second - The Arena 1986).Manu Delago - Mono Desire (Hang Solo)
..

Movies:

Recently more fantasy type films than anything. LOTR, and Harry Potter (I know it sounds kind of childish, but they are pretty cool films). I've also always been a fan of Lucusfilms (Star Wars/Indianna Jones) as they were the biggies during my childhood. As genres go, I'm generally into dramas as opposed to horror flicks (how many different ways can one be split open after all), to comedies as opposed to 'romantic comedies' (Mel Brooks kicks ass as compared to 'When Harry Met Sally')

Television:

I watch very little...LOST (awesome), and 24. NO AMERICAN IDOL PLEASE!

Books:

Tom Clancy, JRR Tolkien, Stephen King (got to get your horror fix somehow).

Heroes:

My father and my mother, Keith Jarrett, Ben Folds, Elton John, Richard Calloway (my first REAL music teacher), Mike O'Brien (my second REAL music teacher). Any man who has had the misfortune of being elected to the title of President Of The United States -- no matter whether you like them or not -- it has to be one of the hardest jobs known to civilization.

My MP3 Player...

I've added a mp3 player to my myspace that allows more than just one song to play. Hence I'm constantly feeling the need to add tunes to it to show people what I'm into at the moment. Originally I was...
