Formed in Sydney in the early part of 2004, In the After have very quickly established themselves as a favourite on both the Sydney and Australian folk tour circuit playing at events such as the Canberra Folk Festival, Peats Ridge Festival, the Surry Hills Festival and the Kampung Street Festival and venues such as the Excelsior Hotel, Annandale Hotel, Sandringham Hotel and many more.
Their unique sound, driven by Ben Eadies rhythm guitar and Shannon OConnors driving bass and complemented by Kirsten Whalley on flute, Bridget Kruithof on violin and Chris Hales ..o, has been likened to the Dirty Three, Nick Cave, Billy Bragg, Portishead, Dwayne Eddy, and Bob Dylan. An eclectic mix but one which, by drawing on many styles and influences, manages to create something richly new and exciting. Ben, Kirsten and Shannon also share the vocals alternating between them the lead and harmony responsibilities.
In the Afters live performances have also been a talking point with Sydney audiences. High in energy, witty, pun and flowerful with a touch of political incorrectness and social commentary.
