The Optionals

About Me

THE OPTIONALS are a 3-piece melodic punk band from Sydney, Australia. We've been kickin' ass since late 2002, releasing our debut album in 2003, creatively titled "The Optionals". Several shows and a lineup change later, we released our first EP as a 3-piece titled "Believe or Burn" in 2005. Enter lineup change 2 with Danny Antonios taking over on the Drums, and creating the 2nd album "Dead to Realise." 2009 ushered in a 3rd lineup change in the form of Tom Fisher, previously of Bagster, taking up the Bass.
We've been lucky enough to play with some of our favourite bands, as well as some shit ones, but hey a show is a show! Bands we have shared the stage with include LEATHERFACE, AGAINST ME, THE BOUNCING SOULS, HAPPY HATE ME NOTS, FRONT END LOADER, FRENZAL RHOMB, NANCY VANDAL, THE DISABLES, H-BLOCK (R.I.P), HELL CITY GLAMOURS, DAREDEVIL, THE PORKERS, and MINK JAGUAR amongst countless others.
The second half of 2009 will see The Optionals playing up and down the east coast, with plans to hit WA in late November. A new EP is slated for realease later in the year.
