About Me

WHAT IS ANAHUAK? When the ancestors of the Azteca/Mexica people left Aztlan and journeyed South to create the beautiful city of Tenochtitlan (modern day Mexico City) they spoke the Nahuatl language. To this day, Nahuatl is one of the largest language groups spoken by the Native peoples of North America. Anahuak is a Nahuatl word meaning "the land surrounded by water" and is an original name of Turtle Island (North America).^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^WHO IS ANAHUAK DESIGNS? Anahuak Designs is a young company created by a group of Chicanos who acknowledge and identify with the indigenous heritage we all share as people of the Sun and Earth. Our mission is to provide quality clothing and art that represents the wisdom and culture of our native ancestors. The sacred symbols that adorn our clothing and art embody universal truths to be shared by all those born of our Mother Earth. It is our belief that through the teachings of the ancient ways of harmony and balance that positive change can be realized in the world today.
