Hope Mills is a rapidly growing town of about 12,000 people, located in Cumberland County, approximately 6 miles south of Fayetteville, and 15 miles from Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base. The community began to form in 1766 when land grants were made in this area to John Brownlow, Arthur Council and James Council. In 1891, Hope Mills received its official charter as a town. Originally known as “The Rockfish Villageâ€. Hope Mills is unique in that it is large enough to meet the everyday material needs of its citizens, but still small, quiet and peaceful enough to maintain a village atmosphere. Hope Mills has become quite a popular place for raising families in a very family-oriented setting that focuses on good health, recreation, education and all things that are good in life.
