Through dedication and hard work spanning over twelve years, Elliot "Luv" Rousell has gained the respect of many local artists and DJ"s in his hometown of New Orleans, LA. He is due to release self-produce hits "The Ringtone Song" and "Only U," Spring 2008, through his co-owned, independent label R.E. Music Group.
Elliot's talent stems from a history of family entertainers. His father, L.S. Tolbert, and uncle, Lionel "Soul Man" Tolbert, are both prominent singers from the Magnolia Projects. Cannon Jones, his grandfather, sang gospel music and hand-built the family church, Holy St. Mathews. "I like to think of myself as a truth singer, " says Elliot.
Elliot's soulful, lyrical style and contemporary twist has been influenced by 70s and 80s soul music. Now a renowned songwriter, producer and artist, he is working on creating a network in New Orleans that will both entertain and allow locals to socialize and share ideas. "I love positive energy, and I love demonstrating that with others."
His work has been wildly accepted by a variety of demographics. In February 2006, he took his talent to the Apollo Theater in New York with rapper Jack Spratt to salute New Orleans with a [Hurricane] "Katrina" anthem. In that same year , he won the Morris Brown College talent show in Atlanta, GA showcasing an original ballad, "Love Kisses." In 2007, In New Orleans, Elliot has hosted and performed at his owned open-mic venue at Ray's Boom Boom Room and electricfying music shows at The Hookah Cafe. He gladly Labored through overnight studio sessions to produce an assortment of mixtapes, including "R&B City" and the popular "Songs From The Trash Can."
Elliot Luv makes a great addition to the ever-growing family tree of Louisiana artists.
