Darling

Despite New York City's reputation for being filled with noise, the sweet sounds of pop rock do occasionally slip through the cracks in the sidewalk. Darling, the brainchild of Jesse Lawson and Oscar Murden, is one of the finest examples of this rare occurrence. Their sound could easily be the soundtrack of the suburban landscape - chock full of teen angst and pop hooks, but what this duo offers to differentiate from the lot is the worldliness of the city they live in. Darling delivers a female-fronted take on the modern pop punk of My Chemical Romance and Motion City Soundtrack, effortlessly merging it with a Phil Spector "Wall of Sound" and Elvis Costello-esque charming pop swagger. While recording their debut EP, Darling enlisted the help of some friends: Jonathan Snyder (Meg & Dia, Madison) on bass, Jude Zasadzki (PlayRadioPlay!, Daphne Loves Derby) on keys, Sammy Siegler (Nightmare of You, CIV, Glassjaw) on drums, and Jesse Cannon (Say Anything, Senses Fail) handling production duties. With this effort, Darling is bringing their hooks out of the city, to the rest of the world.
