About Me

MyGen Profile Generator Not sure where I'm going, dunno where I've been. But I'm smiling all the way....Film maker and editor living in Hackney, bimbling around in a genial way.Click here for my website, bashthebox.com. Currently freelancing on a few different projects, and as ever looking for that elusive high-paying job. Spending the rest of my time builing a fort out of loo rolls in my front room. And if you want to add me as a friend, that's great... but SEND ME A MESSAGE FIRST, otherwise I'll probably think you're a weirdo. Unless I already know you. In which case you probably are a bit odd.

My Interests

Films, music, photography... um yeah, that's a bit general isn't it?! I want to make music videos, then maybe actual films. With music in em. And, erm, about a photographer.Other stuff I like: Clubbing with my friends (it's all about the house music baby); cooking and sitting down for huge amounts of food (then making everyone else wash up); gardening in the spring and summer; pretending I'm Luke Skywalker; contemplating issues over cups of tea and/or Guiness (important issues, like making a scale of sexual deviancy); being a bit silly as much as possible.

I'd like to meet:

Muhammad Ali, for being one of the most inspiring people there ever was. My grandfathers, because I never got a chance to. Larry Levan, for being one of the first, and kickstarting our crazy clubbing lives.

Music:

This list has the potential to be endless. Hmmmmm..... ok then. House music to go out to (lovin the minimal bandwagon at the mo, but I got into house with the French sound in about 97-98. I've gone through various electro and disco phases too). To relax at home, depending on what mood I'm in, I love a bit of Bowie, Bjork, Sigur Ros, Jazz, Soul, and Classic (even opera!). And if I'm feeling hyper and ready to make a tit of myself, I'll shout along to Frank Sinatra, Disco (Paradise Garagey stuff, Italo, Electro, it's all good), Soft Rock, and much more. Also love a bit of hip-hop... starting from Sugarhill sort of stuff, through early 90's rap (Dre, Biggie) up to N.E.R.D., Common and Kanye West.Basically, I love good music, stuff that makes me smile, laugh, cry, or, um, feel good. Down There.

Movies:

Star Wars Sextupoly (is that even a word?); BladeRunner; House of Flying Daggers/Hero/Crouching Tiger; Old Boy; The Incredibles; The Italian Job (original); Godfather; Raging Bull; Memento; anything by the Coen brothers; Eternal Sunshine (increasingly becoming my favourite film of all time); Gladiator; Withnail & I; Leon; Spirited Away; Solaris; this list is to be continued...

Television:

Bored of TV. Quite like that Prison Break thing though. Currently waiting for Soft Rock Idol to appear... that'd be good.

Books:

The Story of B by Daniel Quinn. Even if you don't believe in it, it will at least make you think a lot. I read a lot of books, but that is the only one that has had a lasting impression on me recently....Just finished The Constant Gardener. Really good book, slightly anti-climactic end. Oh well. Same can be said for The Girl at the Lion d'Or by Sebastian Faulks. Where's my Steven Seagal-style guns blazing kick-ass finale?Read The Five People You Meet in Heaven, by Mitch Albom, the other day. Absolutely beautiful. Moved me to tears.... might have been the comedown that helped with that though.

Heroes:

Rod Hull, the kid out of Gentle Ben, David Prowse, Geoff Capes, my parents' dogs.
