About Me

"Dikla was born Dikla Douri to a religious family of Morrocan and Iraqi origins. She was greatly influenced by the Arabic music she heard at home and later combined it in her own material.
She released her debut, "Love - Music" in 2000. It was chosen as one of the best 5 albums of the year by a major Israeli news paper in 2001.
After the album's release she toured the country with a show called "Love - Music- The Concert". She was accompanied by 4 band members playing percussion, Darboukas (middle eastern drum), keyboards and guitars. She sang songs from the album and covered an Arabic and a few more Israeli ones.
On July 2002 Dikla appeard at the Lincoln Center summer festival. That year her song "Spices" from the "Love - Music" album was included in the "Music Bazaar" compilation released by BMG, alongside other Israeli artists like Ofra Haza, David Broza and international artists such as Nana Cherry, Natacha Atlas, Marian faithful and Goran Bregovich.
In 2003 Dikla toured again. this time the show was based on classic Egyptian pieces by Abdel-Halim Hafez, Fareed El-Atrash, Oum Koultoum and others. The show also featured a belly dancer named Orit Maftsir who performed on stage with Dikla and the band.
In 2004 Dikla released her 2nd album "World" and a single by the same name. As in her debut, Dikla wrote and composed all of the songs in it." - http://www.mooma.com
