a lot of modern culture prefer simplicity in art. as an artist it is both difficult and simple to understand the need for this simplicity. to me, what it all comes down to is the roll that art is supposed to play in our society. if art is supposed to calm and relax, then simplicity in art seems natural. if art is supposed to act as a representation of society, however, it will take on a complex and confusing style that will leave people on edge. the perfect medium is art that allows doses of relaxation while suggesting comtemplation. you can not "whooo" them with pornography, just as you can not "booore" them with politics.
