DIRTY AND LEAN AND A BIT OF OBSCENE

About Me

Below is a jukebox containing songs I have written for a band I am putting together called Vicious Destuction. Click on the song titles on the right hand side of the jukebox to hear the tracks.
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, I grew up as a normal middle class kid with cool friends and a loving family. In this order, graduated from high school, then went off to college, joined a fraternity, graduated from college, and then worked as an accountant in San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, back to Austin, and Houston during the 90s.
In 2002, I decided to make a change in my life that I always wanted to do. You see, back when I was in middle school and high school, I was really into Heavy Metal, particularly Metallica. Well, I saw Metallica on the Master of Puppets tour when they opened up for Ozzy. Somehow, I clawed my way to the barricade when the lights went out for Metallica. The acoustic part of “Battery” started playing, the lights started to come on, and I realized I was front row right in front of James Hetfield’s mic.
The full onslaught of “Battery” commenced and James Hetfield spit on me before opening up with the first verse with “Lashing out the action, returning the reaction…”. Later in the set, he gave me a beer, so I guess all ended well. The point is, I recall to this day a vivid memory during that show. I remember thinking to myself while watching James Hetfield sing and play, “I can do that, I wanna do that, I have something to say.”
As the story goes, I did not act on that ambition until about 28 when I bought my first guitar. I played a little for a couple years, but not much since I was working a lot and partying a lot outside of that.
At about 30, I decided to really start putting real effort into playing guitar. After about 2 years of trying to get better, things were moving too slow in the arena. So I decided to move to Hollywood, Ca to attend Musician’s Institute to really jump start my playing and catch up on lost time of not practicing. I didn’t work for about 2 years. I finished Musician’s Institute and received the “Most Improved Student Award” of my graduating class.
From that point, about 4 years now, I have worked a regular accounting job (pays the bills and nice gear) while continuing at even harder pace to improve my guitar chops while learning to sing too.
My guitar style is aggressive with a blues vibe. I call it a punk-azz sleazy blues vibe with thrash riffs that split your brain. I also sing and write my own music.
At this time, I am putting together my own band called Vicious Destruction. I play guitar and sing, and right now I am actively pursuing a drummer, bass player, and lead guitar player. A lead guitar player isn’t required, but I would prefer it so I can focus mainly on rhythm guitar and writing guitar/vocal parts.
So thanks for reading and let me know if you want to know anything else.
