About Me

Justin Citron is an L.A. native, and a born and bred musician. Unapologetically immersed in music of all types from infancy, Justin had the odd gift of auditory absorption. As far back as elementary school, Justin could recite from auditory memory an entire lesson’s lecture without having written one word down. When other kids in the fourth grade were glued to their Mario Brothers/ Duck Hunt games, or crying for their parents to take them to that year’s PG-13 rated Christmas Pixar film, Justin was buying front row tickets for Ozz-fest and begging his mom to take him to the LA Opera’s premiere showing of Don Giovanni. Justin has been a student of the musical arts since the age of 10. He learned to utilize his talent for auditory comprehension by bridging his musical cognition with performance apprenticeship, and eventually, he learned how to pass on grains of these special capabilities to his own students. Justin’s professional experience on stage began at the tender age of 11, where he started playing with cover bands specializing in 60’s and 70’s rock and blues.Justin’s musical vocabulary ranges from operatic arias, to classic rock, to modern heavy metal. From 2000 to 2001, at the age of 17, he attended the nationally coveted Musician’s Institute, where he mastered the study of musical theory, composition, and stage performance. By age 19, Justin had started teaching guitar in the neighborhood where he grew up, the Pacific Palisades (suburb of Los Angeles), where he has become one of the most sought-after guitar teachers on the Westside. Justin has been a member of more than half a dozen bands since the age of 15, having played all things rock from the backyards of Suburban LA white-collar conservatism to the legions of fans at the outdoor festivals of Europe. Currently Justin is writing and recording with Lucid Nation, an indie rock band drawing inspiration from mood and utilizing unadulterated improvisation. He currently has also been commissioned to compose the rock and roll drag show Mommie Dearest, which is based on the life of Joan-Crawford, as well as playing and singing with various original and cover bands in between, all the while teaching the disturbed and privileged suburban youth of America how to hold their rock horns high.
