Relatively unknown - at least compared to his band mates in Brides - London LeGrand has a history that is no less sordid or without struggle as any of the other cast of characters in the band. Although London was born in Miami, it can't really be said that he's "from" any particular place. Like many other musicians that preceded him, London's history is strewn with tales of a vagabond lifestyle and rock and roll experiences. His family soon moved around from an early age, with London attending schools in places as diametrically different from North Carolina to Hong Kong. At an early age, London picked up and moved to the Georgia area, where he quickly found a home in the burgeoning Athens music scene of the early 90's. His first band, Mad Hatter, could best be described as a Suicidal Tendencies type band that toured the local area but found little success anywhere beyond the local scene and soon disbanded. From there, he went on to form Voodoo Piston in Atlanta and again toured the southeast area of the US but still nothing seemed to be catching on that would take the band to the next level. Inspired by the Guns and Roses album, "Appetite for Destruction", London took off for sunny LA with nothing more than a duffel bag in the hopes of finding something musically that was more permanent. His belief was that if these guys could do it, live day by day and on the edge, then he certainly could as well. Having no place to stay upon reaching LA, he would spend his time strolling up and down Hollywood Blvd looking for jobs and places to stay. Sometimes staying on the streets, sometimes a wooded area, sometimes working here and there, he lived the true life of a rock and roll dreamer in LA.
It was through an acquaintance that London met up with Sixx. Working one of his odd jobs as a hairdresser at a place called Bezzstop in Hollywood, London was approached by a mutual friend in Adam Hamilton, who mentioned that Nikki Sixx and Tracii Guns were forming a new band and in need of a vocalist. He took London's photo and gave it to Nikki and Tracii and told them about London. The next thing he knew, London was at Tracii's studio laying down vocal parts on one of the new songs, and Sixx was pulling up in the driveway to meet the "new guy". Over an Italian dinner that night, the deal was sealed and London became the new frontman for Brides of Destruction. It's the typical LA story all over again…truly the land of dreams.
