Who is UnderOne? We assembled in September of 2005 for two simple reasons. First and above all else, we write songs that glorify our God. The second is to set it to the music that reaches our generation. Somehow in churches there tends to be some kind of stigma around any music that’s deemed “heavyâ€. Somewhere between when you drop your guitar’s tuning, hit a high gain distortion pedal and scream instead of only singing you destroy and demean the meaning in your music (or so we’ve been told). Take 5 seconds and read the lyrics to any song and it’s blatantly obvious where our beliefs stand. Our calling is for our generation, who has been shunned in many ways by the church. We sum this up by the lyrics to “The Oneâ€.
We are the ones, of the forgotten generation
We are the ones, who need grace’s allocation
We are the ones, that are standing together
We are the ones, and every storm we will weather
There are too many bands that claim to be “Christianâ€, but that can’t ever seem to deliver what they stand for. There’s no mystery in our songs who we sing to. There’s no alluding to some foreign higher power that we could possibly relate to someday. We believe Jesus Christ is love; He loves you and wants you to come home.
Our generation is in desperate need of a change. It doesn’t matter if we tour in a Honda CRV until we're 60. We will never sell out; we will never give in. It's time for a change.
