I'm a grad student at the University of Iowa. I'm studying history of philosophy--that of the 17th and 18th centuries, more specifically. My dissertation is on Spinoza's epistemology and metaphysics. I'm looking into his account of individuation and whether there can be genuine finite objects in God/Nature.

My favorite philosophers are: Kant, Hume, Berkeley, Nietzsche, Wittgenstein, Aristotle, and the Presocratics. Chomsky also kicks ass.

I love teaching philosophy. It's fun working with difficult concepts and trying to convey them in a form my students can understand, all while keeping them interested.

Another thing you should know is that I'm a reborn political soldier. The choices our government makes affect you and EVERYONE IN THE WORLD in many ways, and you can choose to bury your head and act like you don't have any power at all, or you can educate yourself on the issues and push yourself and others to vote. Don't completely drug yourself with the material comforts our society can afford. Don't wake up one day to find your social security messed up, your children drowning in the national deficit, and your grandchildren dying in a bullshit war because you didn't speak out.
