Southway

funk punk to free the world

About Me

Southway's quest for music began in the womb. His dad was a DJ and his mom a dancer. Working nightly the two of them relentlessly entertained the hordes of beat crazed youths that packed into the sweaty darkened underworld that is disco culture. Those beatz had an undying effect on the unborn child that was onstage in his mom's tum til she was 6 months pregnant. A couple of months later, a little earlier than expected, out popped baby Southway and though contained within the confines of a wired plastic incubator he began to show signs of extraordinary rhythm, freaking out to the sound of James Brown wailing 'I feel good'. And good he felt! He was born. Finally he was free from his young mother's loins and able to see the world, smell the flowers and really hear that funky music.Banging on a red and blue metal drum, Southway's love for rhythm began to evolve and before those elementary sounds of 'mama' or 'dada' passed through his softly cursed lips, he was already buggin the s*$t out of his terrified parents. "What if he never stops", they cry; "He just keeps on banging!" "What can we do, he just wont give up?!". But it was too late. The low frequency bass response from those life before life days had infiltrated his genetic makeup. Respectable life time was running out. He was doomed. The future wasnt bright, but he had to wear shades. Destiny had already carved out the little freaks path and that path was cursed. Punk, Rock, and Pop would never be the same again. How dare Nirvana funk like Parliament! Rockers shouldnt dance! Love should NOT conquer all! But it was no use. Southway's world was and is undivided. There are no rules, there are no regulations. Music is Music and Southway is Southway. So take off that sweater, put on that leather, and loosen up those buttons babe, coz the time has come for punks to get funky.
