The syncopated psychadelic blues rock of Box100s is starting to turn heads in their home city of New Orleans. With the gentleman-like scottish wit and Morrison-esque vocals of Michael Unwin, the electrifying guitar of Jason Kareores, and the funky grooves of Christopher Layton's bass, the band has created their own blend of classic and southern sounds. "Pure raucaus, belly-ache rock" is how producer Charles E. Fach of Platinum Plus Universal in Nashville put it after seeing a show at the Chris Owen's Club on Bourbon Street.
Recently, Box 100s finished their latest E.P. at What Noise?! studios with Eric Heigle (who also played percussion on the tracks). It will be released in coming months with plans of extending it into an album. The band is trying to keep themselves busy with a full onslaught of shows to come through the spring and summer. Lookout for them at bars, clubs, and festivals throughout the state of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.
