hanging out with family and friends now that I'm finally back home
Oh God. First and foremost The Beatles. Bar none the most influential group of musicians ever. Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Wings, Heart, Stevie Nicks, The Beach Boys, System of a Down, The Strokes, Interpol, Gram Parsons, Waylon Jennings, David Allan Coe, Allison Kraus and Union Station (she has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard. Seriously.), Johnny Cash, Jane Monheit, BOB MARLEY, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Dean Martin, Marty Robins, AC/DC, Pantera, Aerosmith, Elton John, The Greatful Dead, Jimmy Buffet, Dire Straits, The Who, The Moody Blues, Rush, Billy Joel, Dave Matthews Band, Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, Patty Griffin, James Morrison, the Costellos, obviously just about anyone. It pretty much depends on my mood. I also listen to a lot of international stuff like this South African group called Ladysmith Black Mombazo. Discovered by the great Paul Simon which brings to mind Simon and Garfunkle.
I'm not really big into movies. My favorite is The Shining. The first one with Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall. Not the crap remake with Rebecca DeMornet and the guy from Wings. Other than that I like lots of old black and whites and early color films. Anything with Audrey Hepburn, Bette Davis, Ginger Rogers, etc. And I LOVE Abbott Costello!
OK, so I'm a FOX News addict. I love Bill O'Reilly! I can't help it. I've also been watching old seasons of the Gilmore Girls cause they remind me of me and my mom. Those are the only shows I watch religiously although I will admit that I got into American Idol for the first time last season. Mostly I just like watching the auditions with my husband since we're both music nerds. It makes me feel good about myself to bash all of the talent-free people hoping to get their big break.
I'm now reading Jane Eyre for the umpteenth time. It's my favorite book of all time and I usually try to read it at least once every year or two. Before that I was reading a biography called Raquela about a Jewish nurse who lived in Israel and served with the IDF at during the 6 day war. Pretty amazing lady.
My grandma who's battling terminal cancer with more grace than I would have ever thought possible.
