About Me

I have wicked curly hair and I'm not too bad at Tetris. Cats love me but I'm really more of a dog person.

My Interests

Roller Coasters, Architecture, Bright Lights, Tea, Pigtails, Cheese, Maps, Subways, James K Polk, Screwdrivers, Bridges, Tunnels, Ampersands, and Brown Clothes.

I'd like to meet:

People who like to have Spicy Pa Nang in their mouths. Shazam!!

Music:

I'm not really on top of the music scenes or anything but I do like a good rock band. Usually bands that have a southern flair, like Blanche, or bring in an unorthodox instrument into their rotation like the late Orbit's use of a theremin or American Mars' pedal steel. Other bands I like are The Hard Lessons, Black Lab, Naked, Interpol, Paris Texas, Wilco, Live, Gin Blossoms, Blind Melon, James Taylor, Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, and R.E.M. It's a bit of a dated list I know, but my favorite recent discoveries have been The Octopus Project, Magnolia Electric Co., and Matt Pond PA. I didn't really care for Captain Billy Bandsaw and his Pink Kazoo.

Movies:

I like movies, but alas, my collection is a bit small. If you came over and looked at it you would find that I have a pretty even collection of comedies and serious movies. My favorite movies are Ordinary People which used to be my hands down, end of the list, absolute favorite movie when I first saw it in high school. Alas though it is not standing up so well in light of my adult reality. But I digress, The Godfather, Airplane, Monty Python's Holy Grail, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, The Terminator, Forrest Gump, Kill Bill, Vacation, Sixth Sense, and a bunch of others that I'm forgetting right now. Probably because I don't own them. My memory relies on material goods.

Television:

I am not endowed with a large or exceptionally intelligent television. But it does show me Scrubs, My Name is Earl, Family Guy, House, The Office, Mythbusters, and various other shows of comedic and dramatic appeal. Another guilty pleasure is America's Funniest Videos. I know. Shoot me now.

Books:

I enjoy reading a lot, however I have terrible retention of what I've read. So while I have read many books and typically read everyday, I usually wouldn't be able to tell you what the books that I have read were about. I suppose that makes me sort of a passive reader? I also don't have the constitution to stop reading a book that disinterests me. I feel compelled to finish it no matter how deadly dull it may be. You may sometimes find me reading several books during the same time span because I'm so sick of the boring book. But I do eventually finish them. So anyway, I don't have a handy list of my five favorite books. I do have one favorite - To Kill a Mockingbird and anyone who had 9th grade English with me knows Mr. Smith MADE that book just as special for all of us as Harper Lee did. So instead, the five most recent books I've read: Listening Woman by Tony Hillerman; Why Do Men Have Nipples by Mark Leyner and Billy Goldberg; The Beach by Alex Garland; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling; and The Blessing Way also by Tony Hillerman. The next book I plan to read is Don't Bend Over in the Garden, Granny, You Know Them Taters Got Eyes by Lewis Grizzard which I found on Amazon while searching for "So you've got diarrhea", it actually sounds rather good.

Heroes:

My brown pants. My sister hates them but I think they are just so cool. Way too cool for me to be wearing them, so cool in fact, that I can only wear them every once in awhile. You know how you have that one friend, you're like his/her charity friend because he/she is so much cooler than you are but just by being with him/her your own coolness goes up? I'm my brown pant's charity friend. I've named my brown pants, Biff. Biff Brownpants. And everyone on the Gulf coast of Mississippi.
