The Packard Institute Inc.'s mission is to provide these services regardless of a family's ability to pay. Donate by clicking the little man below: ..The Revolution Has Started. On May 1st of 07 I opened The Packard Institute, Inc.(see above). Growing up in Dogtown in the 70's, it was all about the skateboarding.... but when punk exploded across L.A., I had finally found my voice. As a U.S. Army paratrooper I learned about discipline and honor. More recently I have focused on running and triathlon: particularly Ironman. Fitness and wellness are part of my core philosophy, and I'm always striving to be a good vegan. I write for several publications: literary, sports, and professional journals. For fourteen years I have been blessed with a path of recovery, and while it has never occured to me to be baptised into any particular faith..... that may change. I have a career that I am greatly passionate about. After crashing and burning in '92, I started working in the counseling field, went back to school for a Master's, became licensed- and have specialized in working with teenagers ever since. Working with kids keeps me honed to a razor's edge, and is rewarding beyond my wildest dreams. A Dogtowner to the bone, I still skate almost every day. In fact I skate to work, saving a fortune in parking costs... As CEO and Clinical Director of The Packard Institute, Inc. - we will bring the healing arts into the 21st century.
If anyone out there in myspace feels they have something valuable to share with my teens in a group counseling setting, please contact me. These kids are like sponges, eager to soak up truth an meaning. Are you walking in the light of your truth? Is it time to give back to the healing circle?
The incomparable sounds of Dan Johnston...I pretty much listen to classical every day, all day. I am particularly fond of the Baroque composers. My teens look at me quizzically, "You like this stuff?"... "Hell yeah man this is the JAMS"... and they nod their heads...
Explore the mad genius of filmmaker Damon Packard. This is what happens when one grows up in my family, with all the attendant alcoholic insanity, impoverishment, and chaos.....order the film at www.reflectionsofevil.com
Once I went wild as a teenager I largely gave up TV, preferring "Venice, 90291" to "Beverly Hills, 90210." I love that guy's voice on "Frontline" though. So lush, so poignant. Watch online at www.pbs.org

What Famous Work of Art Are You?
I review non-fiction books for the "Ohioana," and I prefer non-fiction for recreational reading; history, biographies and such- but I am always open to suggestions. Being from the streets of L.A., I'm a huge fan of both John Fante and Charles Bukowski.
