About Me

Painter-Visual Artist, Art Lover ***Luisa Goulart Estevao was born in Espinho / Portugal in 1978. She studied at Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade do Porto and finished her degree in Artes-Plásticas / Pintura (Fine Art / Painting) in 2003. In 2002 she attended Norwich School of Art and Design as a Socrates-Erasmus Programme Student. Luisa has been developing her art work and exhibiting regularly. She won the 1st prize at III Bienal de Pintura Arte Jovem de Penafiel, with the work “Butterflies in my Belly / Stars in my Belly”, in 2004. She has been developing skills in glass work. Luisa is interested in recreating vivid inner worlds, which reflect the common human being’s essence. Her working process consists in collecting situations, poses, and commonplace images, usual in our everyday life; that, by the juxtaposition of concepts and the free association of thought, awake our emotional memory, our collective imaginary. Luisa has been trying to highlight and question the expectations and ideals of happiness of our time, as well as making eternal what is inevitably transitory, creating a harmony between dream and reality, desire and fulfilment in a compensation of opposite tendencies.
