Freelance Illustrator and part time Struggling Artist

About Me

..
I graduated from the University of North Dakota with a BA in art. Que the snikering. Nonetheless, I know I'm good at what I do and I enjoy it. I like to keep my options open to any number of art related jobs, including book illustration, comics, conceptual art, and privately commissioned work. I love drawing creatures of my own design as well as werewolves and anything else creepy, frightening, or gruesome. I'm good at drawing pretty or cute things too, but I don't enjoy doing them quite as much. I'm pretty good with Photoshop, but I really excel in traditional mediums such as oils, acrylics, graphite, colored pencil, and clay.I also enjoy metalsmithing and besides being an illustrator I've also worked as a goldsmith. Currently I'm in the early phases of reproducing jewelry pieces that I fashioned several years ago. Below are a few examples of the kind of work I've done. More artwork can be seen at my website UnstableArt.com and at deviantART

My Interests

Strength training, walking, hiking, biking, swimming. I enjoy discussing with others the subject matter and symbolism behind some movies and video games. When I'm not drawing original creatures or animals I love to draw DBZ fanart.

I'd like to meet:

Other creative individuals that I may potentially be able to network with. I enjoy talking with people who are also interested in the arts, including musicians and writers.

Music:

Korn, Rammstein, Gary Numan, Danny Elfman, Charlie Clouser, NIN, some Dead Can Dance, Medieval Babes, Metallica, some Linkin Park

Movies:

Fight Club, Kung Fu Hustle, The X-Men movies, Pirates of the Caribbean, Kill Bill Volumes I and II, As Good as it Gets, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Evil Dead 2 and 3

Television:

I think Dragon Ball Z ranks at the top of my list. My favorite character is Vegeta. He's just nuts and I identify with that. X-files was another favorite of mine. I had really been enjoying Buffy the Vampire Slayer a couple years ago, but I've been too busy anymore to watch the episodes consistently, much less consecutively. I've recently rediscovered Scrubs years after I watched the first two seasons. It has got to be the greatest comic series I've ever seen.

Books:

"Art of War"

"Unquiet Mind" by Kay Redfield Jamison. I just started reading another of her books, "Touched With Fire".
