Halo Down was created in Tyler, TX when singer John Hobbs, guitarist Chris Bannon, bassists Wolf Madore, and drummer Randall Rainwater came together with their various music backgrounds to create a new style of metal. With influences ranging from the groove of the70’s to the strong powerfully driven beats of today Halo Down brought a new sound to an area littered with the same type of metal at every venue and every club.
And people took notice.
With crystal clear, yet powerful vocals singing across the ever-changing rhythmic and melodic styles, Halo Down quickly became known for their ability to bring something different and refreshing to the venues. Doors have been thrown wide for Halo Down that other metal bands have never even been able to knock on in the past. The clubs knew that Halo Down was taking steps in a new direction.
Imagery within the music became what Halo Down was known for. Haunting melodies whispering in dark overtones to the audience in one song transitioned into arousing, heat pounding, and provocative grooves to the next. No two songs have ever been the same. Blending the styles of blues, jazz, a little swing, and a lot of new innovative approaches to metal in general helped Halo Down create their signature sound.
Halo Down has stuck to their roots, never compromising on where they came from. Proud to tell that they came from the comparatively small town of Tyler, TX, Halo Down has always represented the fans that gave them their start. However, their sound is known well beyond the city limits of their hometown. From California, to Ohio, to New York City, to Florida; countless listeners waiting for Halo Down to finally break away and make their way into their town have enjoyed their music. To all those fans that still have yet to walk up to them and shake their hands, Halo Down has one thing to say.
“We’ll be there soon.â€
