About Me

Knievel Genius was born of four loud men in their early twenties that grew up listening to alternative rock from the nineties. Three friends from school found a tired, lonely guitar player on the internet and persuaded him to play bass.They had their first full practice together in July 2005 quickly followed by the recording of their debut four track EP, â€œThree Syllable Burstâ€ in November of that year and starting gigging three weeks later.A solid year of gigging followed, leaving a trail of broken hearts and broken journalists, establishing themselves as a nuisance to the middle of the road by upsetting the Independent enough for them to write a full page spread declaring KG to be the most abrasive band on the scene. Autumn of â€™06 KG hit the studio again with an un-named DIY demo (later tagged â€˜Sound Barrier EPâ€™ by fans)With a spellbindingly diverse array of tracks, KG are just as likely to set your house on fire with their window-bleedingly heavy riffs as they are set your heart alight with their soaring epic melodies. A mammoth, muscular beast of a rhythm section grinds a frantic, fidgety festival of brutality next to beautiful soaring soundscapes. With influences as disparate as their sound, KG bum Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Reuben, Helmet, Slayer, Get Up Kids, Tool, The Wildhearts and At the Drive -In to name but a few.Here is a small snippet of some of the venues they have playedâ€¦Roadmenders, Northampton Hope and Anchor, Islington Barfly, Camden Esquires, Bedford Watershed, Wimbledon Studentâ€™s Union, LutonJuly of 2007 saw the release of new tracks â€œWEAKLINGâ€ and â€œCross Hairs on Homeâ€, recorded at Dungeon Studios in Oxford, recently the home of well established acts the Young Knives, Jack Penate and Supergrass. Listen. Look. But donâ€™t touch. Or smell.
