I don't want to die and meet my Maker and have Him ask me if I got to ride waves, see the pyramids, learn to dance and love people and respond in the negative. I want all that real living on this earth has to offer.
I like all kinds but listen selectively. What is currently in my iriver, no not ipod-I'm too cool for that ;-} is my workout set which includes songs from the Oasis worship CD, David Crowder Band, Third Day, Ray Lamontagne, Gillian Welsh, and Switchfoot-I have other music from these bands as well as Coldplay, The Shins, The Garden State soundtrack, U2, Sara Groves, Casting Crowes, Hillsong, and Robbie Seays Band. Then some which are specific to events or moods include CCR, Lauren Hill, Mindy Smith, Nickel Creek, Tony-Toni-Tone, Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Fiona Apple...just to name a few
My favorites tend to be the ones I've really enjoyed most recently, like Little Miss Sunshine, and The Departed. Some of my favorites are Gone With the Wind, City of Angels, Gladiator, Usual Suspects, Good Will Hunting, Shawshank Redemption and Casablanca. I like most of the popular trilogies especially Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars. Depending on my mood can depend on what I want to watch. Some of my favorite laugh movies: Hitch, Bridget Jones' Diary, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Spaceballs, Three Amigos. My favorite almost indie movies: Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind, Adaptation (Ok I'm a Kaufman fan), The Royal Tenenbaums... Obviously the list goes on.
Don't watch too much but when I do I like the cheesy reruns like I Love Lucy, Bewitched, The Brady Bunch; anything with my friends or family; and of course the classics: The Simpsons, Seinfeld, and Friends - The new American Classics. Oh and I did recently get hooked on 24. I wathched the first series in about 3 weeks via Netflix. I watched more TV than I had in a long time, but the show is a bit addicting.
Some of my fave non-fiction: Eldredge's books, 'Mere Christianity';' 'Practicing the Prescence of God,' by Brother Lawrence; 'Traveling Mercies,' by Anne Lamott; 'Celebration of Discipline,' --who knew there could be so much freedom from discipline; 'Sit, Walk, Stand' by Watchman Nee revolutionized my view of God's love for us, I started crying while I read it on an airplane flight...My fiction reads go back and forth between recreation and entertainment. Some of my most recent fiction reads: "Three" by Ted Dekker; "Lovely Bones," by Sebold; 'The Idiot;' "Trading Up" by Bushnell; I also recently got hooked on sci-fi. As my friend said "Pay no attention to the cover" then you can sit back and enjoy. The best so far is "Ender's Game," most especially for anybody that's spent some time in the military. Oh and one of my all time fave's "Jane Eyre," I never really thought myself a romantic until I read it - soooo good. There are so many more, thankfully I heard one time that heaven is for at least three things: to listen to the music you never had the time to listen to; to spend time with the people that you didn't have enough time with, and meet new ones; and lastly to read all the books you never got to read.
