Seeing beyond outsides, images, shells, and facades, Squashing unnecessary judgement, Animal rights, human rights, the earth, the air, spirituality, energy work... I really want to learn how to knit, how to fix a car, and how to be a doulah... develop my writing skills, get into yoga... the list goes on and on. I love things that help me become more well rounded, healthy, and self sufficient.
More people who are practitioners of healing arts, animal rights activists, environmentalists, people who get off their ass and do the work to make the world a better place, people who care more about what we're going to do about the world that our children and grandchildren have to grow up in than whether or not their skinny jeans make their ass look fat or if their brand new "old skool" sneakers will look good with their thick rimmed glasses, People who get their news froms sources other than their local television broadcast... oh yeah, and that chick from Total Recall with 3 tits!
Vintage blues, vintage country, hip hop, mariachi, classical, "relaxation" music, metal, pop, "alternative" everything, electronic... I can get into pretty much anything as long as I feel like the artist had something inside and couldn't get it out any other way except the music. The only things I can't get into so much are new country and most jazz... I don't know, just don't dig it.
My faves are the kind with lots of blood, gore, ripped off limbs, scantily clad (preferably wet but it isn't necessary) women running, zombies, fists punching through heads, and shit that fucks with your head. comedy is cool too. Oh! and I'm a slave to documentaries... real life is always the most fucked up!
Many say the "idiot box" is the enemy and I completely agree to a certain point but I've also found a lot of really cool, educational, interesting stuff on TV. I like to watch court tv (forensic files, power priveledge and justice, I detective, etc). I also like the Discovery, National geographic, PBS, Learning, History, and Biography channels.
I love to read but it takes me a while to read something and understand it. I'm really into cookbooks, books on spirituality, philosophy, holistic health and wellness, biographies (my absolute fave) and of course regular fiction like Tom Robbins, Isabel Allende, and whatever else I happen to come across.
I is so hard to call people my "hero". I am so quick to put people that I admire up on pedestals and then I always feel so let down when I realize that they are not perfect and don't live up to the picture I have of them in my head. The only people I can really call my heroes: Wonder Woman, My mom, best friend Jen, and my boyfriend...Bless his calm, patient, forgiving heart. Ultimately I just have to strive to do my best and be my own hero. GI JOE!
