I'm so very wash and wear...so very bland...Just a jeans and t-shirt type of gal. I mostly like to hang out at home or with my family (mom & dad are my best buds!) However, I have a rock 'n roll side too...many years of rockin won't just go away. Lisa said it somewhere...the stories we could tell. She's seen me drive from my home to hers JUST to see a concert...and kinda before it was that big a deal. I've decided on Thursday to hop a plane to see Sofaking in Dallas because I thought they just rocked my world the week before and I couldn't get them out of my mind!
Now might be a good time for me to say that this will probably be a long profile rant, and it will ramble sideways throughout all kinds of useless Mary information. Just a heads up...
I love to travel, I always have, but I spend more time at home now - maybe not the best idea since Suzy Homemaker I AIN'T! But, I do own my house, and I am struggling to make ends meet by working 50-60 hours a week at a job that requires I use a (EEEK...YECCH!) computer. But, I love my job because I teach...yes, the daughter of 2 teachers finally figures out she loves to teach!
While I used to think I could make a living doing animal rescue, I think I now know that I love animals and will always have them in my life...however, paying the bills via working with animals would only happen if I were a vet. AND, that's just not gonna happen. My greyhounds keep me sane (or insane, if you know me well) and I believe my cat is trying to kill me. That having been said, I sometimes trust animals more than I trust humans. HA! If you don't appreciate the unconditional love a pet gives...well...I might just question your values.
Yep, no man could tame me, but some silly doe-eyed pup put a spell on me, slowed my world-traveling tendencies...just a mere month after taking in 3 Tesla shows in California in 3 different cities in 4 days...and if you KNOW California - San Francisco on Friday, Fresno on Saturday and Sacramento on Sunday! Not like they were right next door to each other either! Almost tops the Great White trip of 'fly to LA, drive to Las Vegas, drive back to Santa Ana, drive to Ventura and then drive to Bakersfield before flying out of LA.' Yep. 4 days, 4 shows...4 cities. Love a good tour! And I vow never to go without at least ONE good tour per year EVER AGAIN! It's been 14 yrs of 'tours' and I've got miles I can't remember in addition to places I hope to never visit again! (Sorry Lebanon, KY)
Much of my life centers around people, and I really enjoy people - even though I've been known to say I prefer animals to people. :) I'm a teacher (trainer), a Toastmaster and a lector at church. To say I'm not afraid of speaking in public might just be an understatement. I often tell people I like to stand up in front of a crowd and make a fool of myself. It's fun to be *out there*.
It's kinda funny - I've been told that I never meet a stranger, and I make friends quickly...that's great, but I also connect with my friends and feel they are like gold. It takes a lot to shock me, and a lot to end a friendship with me. When I get to know you, I care about you...and I just want to know you're safe and sound. Not knowing that is like hell to me. So, if you've "become my friend" don't expect that you can just disappear and I'll be okay with it.
I can't travel to shows the way I used to because of my pup, but I'm up for a roadtrip - my cars have had so many miles logged on them over the years that I don't think ANYONE can top my concert mileage! (NJ to Detroit via Buffalo, Charleston to Dallas, Charleston to Pittsburgh to Richmond to Charlotte to Charleston, Charleston to Kentucky, Chalreston to Florida, Charleston to Florida, Charleston to Florida...HA...) And my aging body has so many concert miles logged that just the thought of a trip to see a show brings about jet lag! (How many trips to CA to see shows...uh...8...(wait, does that include this summer?) that I can count right off the bat, plus Kenosha and Dallas...at least twice...am I a million miler yet?) VEGAS baby...Florida many times...Virginia - holy crap...I haven't been to South Dakota yet, but it's not 2008 yet! LOL!
I may be rambling, but it *is* my profile...showing me at my best. If you know me well, you know rambling is an artform perfected by...ME...and, I just want to point out you're still reading!
Thanks for tuning in! It's just awesome of you to read all the way to the bottom. To know me is to know that my profile would be 4 pages long too. : )
