"It's now been pointed out to me by about 5 diff people that this tune sounds like a Prince song. Whilst I'm very chuffed to have written something comparable to Prince, I think I'm going to have to rework this one. I've done this a couple of times, stayed up for three nights on a trott writing something then realising I'd actually written a Nik kershaw song or a some other pop thing from my youth. It must be a trick your brain plays on you when you get near 40."- Gary
"Take the first ever male frontman from gothic "Spinal Tap outfit", Nosferatu. Add the bass player from The Cureheads and Noah. Next, a pinch of the best schwart rock drummer in Europe and two ounces of Poland's answer to Robert Smith on guitar. Stir in some Joy Division bass sounds. Sprinkle with Bolshoi moog parts. Lightly grill some "Cure type" baritone guitars over songs about Kafka charictors and "Goth birds" that were met years ago at the KitKat club and you get The hiram key! The perfect antidote to Gothic Rave Music. "Stick your glow sticks up your borg arses!", laughs the cheeky yet charismatic Gary Ash as they launch into a bouncy tirade of genlty laid anti-yank irony named "Amerikafka." There are some parts of the set where The Hiram Key prove they are not here just to take the piss out of anyone "not goth", but to drag Goth music out of the almost "Happy Hardcore" direction it's heading in. "Suzanna" tells of a chance sighting of a lost love last seen 15 years before "when I spent all my time listening to The Cure" "She was stood right next to me on a bus in Stockholm and I couldnt bring my self to speak to her. I was speechless and she just disapeared into the crowd again."With a few more bands like this, surely the Marquee club will re-open in charing x road ( or maybe not). "Trad goth" is back and this time it's grinning from ear to ear as the oldies remind the new generation of "teeny goths" how to put make-up on properly and more importantly; how to play "real instruments". I watch and wait in hope ;)"Jonny Centrafuge"- NME
