103GBF: Celebrating 20 years of Rock! 1987-2007!

About Me

Most people know me as Sandman.
I am Operations Manager of Regent Communications in Evansville, IN. I am also the Program Director of The River City Rocker, 103GBF...a station that I have been affiliated with since 1980 when it was called 'KC103'. I am also a DJ on 103GBF. Formerly I programmed 106.1 KISS FM and 94.9 The River.
I'm single, having been divorced for about 11 years now. I have a gorgeous, wondeful daughter named Kelcey who is 17 and is a Junior at Castle! I'm fairly consumed by my profession...radio and broadcasting in general. I consider myself well versed in all aspects of pop culture with music and movies being my forte.
Yahoo IM: sandman103gbf

My Interests

Music, Movies, media...anything pop culture related. Americana and culture in general. For as it's been said..."..Support bacteria. It's the only culture some people have.."

I'd like to meet:

Jesus Christ. He's the real deal
I'd also like to meet entertainment icons like Martin Scorscese, Quentin Tarantino, Francis Ford Coppola, Wes Craven, George Romero, Sam Raimi, Jack Nicholson, Robert Redford, Catherine Zeta Jones (just to stare at her!) and countless others in the world of film and the arts.
I think comics are cool too. What a tough job those people have. To make someone laugh...that takes talent. For sure, Richard Pryor is the greatest of all time! I had Jimmie 'JJ' Walker in the studio once for an interview. he was the biggest ass I've ever met. When we were off mic, he turned his back to me and looked at the wall. Great...just Dyn-O-mite you has been asshole!
I've met enough musicians already. Over the years, I've interviewed and hung with Metallica, Aerosmith, Kiss, Ozzy, Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Creed, Alice Cooper, Rush, Collective Soul, Motley Crue, Sebastian Bach, Pantera, Incubus, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Dio, Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Jackyl (Have my name on their greatest hits album!), and dozens more that I can't remember or have tried to forget. I've even interviewed plenty of uncool ones too like Loverboy, 98 Degrees and Billy Squier. Bottom line is...they're just people, and they all sh*t just like you do...sitting down!

Music:

Most things rock and pop...new stuff inparticular. Love anything that has a little crunch but a strong sense of melody! Unfortunately, while radio has been a great career for me my entire adult life, it has ruined me in terms of my taste in music. I tend to really gravitate towards commercialy viable material as opposed to more artistic endeavors. I can certainly tell you when something is going to be a hit or not, I've got a real knack for that. Still, I've got a few hidden obscure gems that I enjoy, like U.F.O, Moxy, Wishbone Ash, Adam Schmitt, Mother's Finest and The Good Rats to name a few.

Movies:

Rear Window, Pulp Fiction, Blood Simple, Session 9, Fight Club, The Godfather I and II, Evil Dead I & II, Army of Darkness, 40 Year Old Virgin, High Fidelity, Apocalypse Now, Raising Arizona, Animal House, Identity, Memento, Kill Bill I & II, Nightmare on Elm Street, Wedding Crashers, Stripes, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original), Ghostbusters, Suspiria, Swingers, Office Space, Anchorman, Romero's 'Living Dead' movies...

Television:

Not much into network TV. I have satellite TV and love IFC an Sundance inparticular. I also have a warm spot in my heart for "Cops" and "Being Bobby Brown", although by and large I think reality shows SUCK! I mean, how the F*ck is it that some whiney a** from'The Real World' or 'Road Rules' is considered a celebrity?? Geez...Wayne Hart is more of a celebrity than those weasels!!

Books:

Ahhh...'The Dirt" by Motley Crue. A must read for decadent rock fans everywhere. I also am reading "Hollywood Animal" by award winning screenwriter Joe Esterhaus. The Bible is a pretty good one too!

Heroes:

Anyone who is 'not' a politican, a racist or a terrorist! If you do good for others, love and support friends, family and community...you're my hero! Be nice to people for God's sake!
