i like history-rome, particularly the last 50 or so years of the republic. there were some seriously ruthless bastards around that point in our oh-so-glorious history, and since i like hearing about betrayel, murder, nefarious plots, and machiavellian machinations i just can't get enough. ummm.....i like wine, i love art. i have a deep and abiding interest in finding and sustaining some sort of happiness that doesn't come glittering and spilling out of one bottle or another. i like to travel, and i've moved to a lot of the places i went. i've lived in hawaii, arizona, california, colorado, arkansas(can't say i recommend it), and washington, and i've spent a little time in boston. my main thing is reading. i love books. but who doesn't? i really, really, really like kittens, shells, interesting rock formations, crispy bacon, skate videos, pathology, going to bullfights on acid, the hall of meat in the back of thrasher, tacos, making my own salsa, spelling, plants, gill's moustache, and about a zillion other things.

so i just finished house of leaves. i always enjoy the ole' non-linear novel. also finished the conquest of new spain. ahhh catholicism: slaughtering indiginous peoples with the name of god on their lips for centuries now. you really have to give a shout out to that kind of dedication and perseverence. you just don't see that sort've resolve these days...or do we? whatever..in the process of finishing paradise lost, and visions of sin. hmmm, some kind of pattern seems to be emerging. anyway always looking for something new, so if anyone knows of a good read let me know. check out a heartbreaking work of staggering genius( do yourself a favor and skip the real world interview), anything by david sedaris, lullabye, and for a good old fasioned shiver try the haunting of hill house-shirley jackson.
