The Fry Gods originated in Salt Lake City in the early eighties as group of social outcasts partied in a little apartment near Liberty Park. They were a conglomeration of kids from all economic stratums and backgrounds in their upbringing. They were all in high school and dealing with the effects of living in suburbia with an imminent threat of nuclear war looming. Some were from good families and some were from broken homes. Some were well off, and some were not so. None of that seemed to matter because for whatever reasons, the things they were lacking, or not getting from their family life they found in each other. They came from all across happy valley, that is, Salt Lake City and the outer suburban areas. From East High School up in the north end of town, all the way out to Alta and Valley High Schools in the south, they found friendship and family outside the home. In that little apartment, the first original Fry Gods came into being when they all decided to give each other names and write them on the wall. This was a time when Hardcore and Punk Rock were bursting on the scene in Salt Lake City. Many of the first Fry Gods were into skateboarding and would regularly go out in safety pins, converse, earrings, colored hair, vans, ripped shirts, sunglasses and fat old big deck boards. They would have "aggression sessions" at empty pools, home made quarter pipes and half pipes while listeneing to great bands like Black Flag, The Faction, Adolescents, the Dead Kennedys and many more. It was a time of being out with friends and having disgust for what our country was doing. Skateboarding, dressing wild and saying "fuck the system" was a prevalent mantra for the kids of that time and the Fry Gods were no exception. That little apartment became the first "H.Q". or, "Fry God Headquarters" where all the friends would go after school, on the weekends or when they were having a hard time with their families. It was a safe haven for them to be themselves and to be different. They had countless adventures and parties before and after going to gigs. Bands like Salt Lake Greats The Massacre Guys, Maimed for Life, The Boards, 004, Buddy Hinton's Revenge, The Potato Heads, The Boxcar Kids, Avon Calling, Angel, and many more were blazing away on the local scene. Black Flag, T.S.O.L., Dead Kennedys, Legal Weapon, Suicidal Tendencies, Circle Jerks, The Cramps, Bow Wow Wow, were making regular stops through Salt Lake City a couple times a year. The Fry Gods lived for those shows and could often be found in the parking lot of the Indian Walk In Center talking between bands and going to some swinging wild after show parties all around. The "Hell House" was a regular place to party as well as the H.Q. It was a time of unsure feelings of the social norms and what the future held for them all...This is the start of a page for them to remember and chronical the history and see what is happening in their lives now. The Fry Gods have been around for a very long time, grew up, and now have children of their own. The early eighties was a wild ride for the Fry Gods in a troubled time for America's youth. It should is a bit of history worth saving. I will update this site as I compile the history required to document them accurately.~Sandy Man of the FRY GODS.
