About Me

"So the little prince, despite all the goodwill of his love, had soon come to mistrust her. He had taken very seriously certain inconsequential remarks and had grown very unhappy. 'I shouldn't have listened to her,' he confided to me one day. 'You must never listen to flowers. You must look at them and smell them. Mine perfumed my planet, but I didn't know how to enjoy that. The business about the tiger claws, instead of annoying me, ought to have moved me...' And he confided further, 'In those days, I didn't understand anything. I should have judged her according to her actions, not her words. She perfumed my planet and lit up my life. I should never have run away! I ought to have realized the tenderness underlying her silly pretensions. Flowers are so contradictory! But I was too young to know how to love her.'"--The Little Prince, pgs. 24-25, in the 2000 version, translated by Richard Howard.

My Interests

This was a blank space, until now. I have been on a desperate search for the fashion magazine "Lula" it is put together by awesome stylist Leith Clark and a few other creative collaborators..it is nearly impossible to find on the west coast, it does not allow internet ordering and I think I've pestered the local awesome magazine mini-chain (Rich's) a little too much by calling them every day. All I want to do is see one and be able to look through it, their website www.lulamag.com is such a tease, why can't i order a single issue on-line? :)

I'd like to meet:

.. width="425" height="350" ..Haruki Murakami. Uma Thurman. J.D. Salinger. there are more but i feel sheepish listing them.

Music:

elliott smith, the beatles, the doors, led zepplin, deathcabforcutie, aqueduct, counting crows, sublime, modest mouse, joni mitchell, nico, velvet underground, portishead, massive attack, the frames, the prom, the long winters, jon brion, mark mothersbaugh, fiona apple, the kingsbury manx, tori amos, eric clapton, david bowie, david bowie, david bowie, pink floyd, tenacious d, husky rescue, architecture in helsinki, eisley, cat power, sleater-kinney, flaming lips, the cure, the smiths, ryan adams, thievery corporation, the shins, neutral milk hotel, janis joplin, billie holiday, blur, gorillaz..need i go on?

Movies:

too tired to list right now, and i highly doubt that anyone cares.

Television:

I have been guilty of watching Clueless a lot lately--and I do mean a lot. Sometimes twice in a row, mostly in the background, while i cut up magazines in search of a perfect combination of fashions, fads, trends, blah-blah-blah--to make, what might be called in a bizzaro version of ATHF, mega-ultra fashion. (see video ouija episode of ATHF, also bizzaro episode of sealab 2021) and, i still can't shake my undying love for samuri champloo. other anime recently watched: tenjou tenge.

Books:

Currently reading: The Upanishads--translated by Eknath Easwaran, Even Cowgirls get the Blues--by Tom Robbins (the great) and two big thick school books, as that is my most recent endeavor--education, specifically apparel design. Oh, and I almost forgot, my constant love (reading-wise anyways)The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
You will be sucked dry by a leech. I'd stay away
from swimming holes, and stick to good old
cement. Even if it does hurt like hell when
your toe scrapes the bottom.

What horrible Edward Gorey Death will you die?
brought to you by Quizilla

Heroes:

cyndi lauper, no the love child that would result from cyndi lauper and jason schwartzman
