About Me

The Dr. Orphyus Project was formed in 2001 by Ryan Morris while attending college in Decatur, Illinois. The band was conceptualized as a completely one-man entity with the musical focus being centered on creating technical yet bizarre and eclectically original material. A self-titled EP was released in May of that year on an incredibly limited basis. The Dr. Orphyus Project was then put on hiatus for 4 years while Ryan pursued his band of humans known as Fustercluck. After the untimely demise of that band, Ryan once again assumed the reins of the Dr. Orphyus Project this time in his hometown of Clay City, IL. In a self-constructed studio, Ryan spent 4 months recording 11 songs/creations that would finally be put into album form entitled, Opaque Imagery. This new release contains material that spans the last 4 years, compositions created solely for the album, and one track intended for Fustercluck. Opaque Imagery showcases a more Death Metal approach without losing unconventional elements, such as Swing and Latin passages. The Dr. Orphyus Project has continued it’s exploration of the unknown with the release of Death Nouvea Episode 1: Strange Noir, a joint comic book/cd with TorC Press. This is a one of kind listening/viewing experience that needs to be seen to fully comprehend.
