My Interests

I love comedy. You can catch my set from "Austin's Funniest Person Competition 2007" at rooftopcomedy.com! Hope you like it!

Music:

Amy Winehouse for starters.Hard house and the harder the better. Personal favs would be Lisa Lashes, Benny Benassi, Anne Savage, and DJ Irene. On the lighter side, Nina Simone, Anita Baker, and Cyndi Lauper’s “At Last” (which was by the way the most AMAZING concert I’ve EVER been to). Madonna is a god (no need to explain that one), so is Gwen, and I think the Beatles would still be rockin’ if it weren’t for Yoko…oh…and that guy that shot John. I love 80’s music, Punk, Happy Hardcore, Folk, and Jazz, as well as some Indie Rock. In fact, it’s probably easier to tell you what I DON’T like. I HATE Britney Spears. In fact, I’m certain that she has signed a pact with Satan. Jessica Simpson is about as smart as a box of hair and has almost as much talent. I would rather stick a burning lump of coal into my eye than listen to Tejano. Timmy T should have never had a hit and K Fed is only slightly less irritating than fingernails on a chalkboard after a long night of drinking Tequila. I think Opera is god’s way of punishing the rich and I believe the world would have been a better place if Michael Jackson had retired and gone into hiding in 1992 just after the release of “Dangerous”.

Movies:

My favorite movie is “The Life of David Gale” with “TransAmerica” coming in at a very close 2nd. My favorite movie to get drunk and watch with friends is “Sordid Lives” and for hot girlie action, nothing beats “Bound”. I’m also a big fan of “La Femme Nikita” (the original, not the remake) and I love a good horror movie. There are however a lot of movies on my HATE list. Let’s start with movies that were take offs of video games. These are ALWAYS a bad idea. Sequels of sequels should be put only on VHS and sold for $1 per crate. I also hate it when you get a film to watch late at night after having a few glasses of wine and laying down on your couch only to discover that the whole damn thing is subtitled. Would it have KILLED Jesus to speak English Mr.Gibson???!!! Would it!??? Damn!

Television:

It goes without saying that my favorite show of all time is “L Word”. I LOVE “Law and Order” (all of them, but SVU is my favorite. I love “America Dad” and “Family Guy”. Can’t get enough of CSI, Conviction, Desperate Housewives, House, or Grey’s Anatomy either. I miss “Queer as Folk” and I’m counting down the days to the return of “Nip Tuck”. As horrible as it is, I also have a weird infatuation with “Most Extreme Elimination Challenge”.Let’s talk now about TV that I HATE! I think hell is a place where you are surrounded by giant movie screens playing “All My Children”, “As the World Turns” and “Passions” reruns for eternity.

Books:

I’m a little bit ADHD so “Why read the book when you can rent the DVD?” If I had to choose a favorite book, it would “My Point, and I Do Have One” by Ellen DeGeneres. Why? Not because she is the leader of the lesbian free world (though she is at the very least Vice President), but because it didn’t bore me. It’s written in a very ADHD friendly kinda way. Based on her book, her standup comedy, and her TV show, I would bet that Ellen is a bit ADHD herself. It’s either that or she’s a recovering crack addict. The symptoms are almost indistinguishable. My second favorite writer is Shel Silverstein and specifically, “Where the Sidewalk Ends”. I loved it as a kid and I love it now.

Heroes:

Ellen Degeneres in general. Madonna for her guts and business sense. Ilene Chaiken for going against the grain and having a vision. Cyndi Lauper for being an amazing artist and genuinely good person. Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French for making me laugh...and drink...repeatedly. Marlee Matlin for being beautiful, strong, determined and truly inspiring. Last, but certainly not least....my mom...because she is the kindest, most giving, honest, and loving person I have ever known.
