I finished a computer science degree earlier this year and have been looking for work for too long. I already have a B.A. in music, but other than allowing me to feel justified when I act like a music snob, it hasn't done much in terms of career. It did give me the necessary creds to go teach English in Japan, which I did for about two and a half years.

Interesting bands/musicians.
No corporate radio music, no untrained hacks jerking around, not even professionals playing safe, unchallenging music. Examples of awesome groups I've found on MySpace: miRthkon, Dysrhythmia, Bubblemath.
Dear enthusiastic bands/musicians, do not send me a friend request if any of the following apply to you: you cannot read music you repeat sections over and over all of your songs are in 4/4 you don't understand how to jam in 5/4 or 7/8 you think that "polyrhythm" refers to a drumming parrot your idea of "experimental" is making weird sounds on a synthesizer you are afraid of dissonance
